What is freeform music?

Freeform music is a style of music that is characterized by its spontaneous and improvisational nature. It is often associated with jazz, but can include any genre of music. Freeform music is created without the traditional rules of form, harmony, rhythm and melody; therefore it is not restricted to a specific time signature or structure.

In freeform music, the musician(s) may play different notes, rhythms and melodies at any given time, and may also incorporate unconventional sounds and techniques. This allows for a unique sound that is often heavily influenced by the performer’s emotions and the energy of the moment.

Freeform music can be enjoyed live or recorded and is often popular in small, intimate settings like jazz clubs. It is typically not as mainstream as other styles of music, but is respected by many musicians and music enthusiasts alike. Some well-known musicians associated with freeform music include John Coltrane, Miles Davis and Ornette Coleman.
